Some of the best moments at weddings are the unexpected. We’ve never had an event quite like the escape for the Hogmanay Torch Light Procession by Jenn & Asef at their destination wedding in Edinburgh, Scotland.
The couple had made their way to the reception at the Balmoral Hotel in Edinburgh and just sat down for dinner when the annual torch light procession with thousands of Scotsmen and women lined the streets of Edinburgh. The procession marks the inception of the city’s New Year’s festivities each year.

A trail of lights seemed miles long as it meandered through the narrow streets and Gothic architecture of the city as Jenn & Asef told me of their plans to sneak outside during dinner and join in the procession.

After their guests were seated, Jenn & Asef ran outside the hotel and negotiated their way through crowd control officers (who felt guilty telling the newlyweds no) and stood front and center in the procession. Several locals snapped photos of them and congratulated the couple on their wedding. Word spread to the Edinburgh Scottsman newspaper who later interviewed couple on their reception time getaway.
This quick escape alarmed the wedding planner causing a small search team to search the hotel grounds for the bride before finding her in the street with her new husband carrying a torch.

Winter Themed Wedding: The Best of Jacki & Andy
A winter themed wedding. Jacki and Andy took this approach in their December 12th wedding in Seattle, Washington and we followed suit. We photographed their wedding in a style to fit the winter theme by focusing our color palette on warm and cold colors to evoke a soft winter tension which helped us produce a nice portfolio telling the story of their day.
Their day began at the Edgewater Hotel which has amazing views of the sound. The water literally comes right up to the hotel. From there the couple and bridal party rode in a stretch limousine to the Escala building in downtown Seattle. The Escala is a luxury high-rise with astounding views of the city. Not to mention a movie theater and Club Cielo located inside the building. They finished the day at Pravda Studios in Capitol Hill with family and friends. Here are some of our favorites.

SoCal Expansion
We’re doing well in the Pacific Northwest, at least our clients say so in customer surveys. With the success of our work, we thought we should spread the love to our neighbor down south and set up shop in Southern California. The same great photography, the same great service. The Best of David & Hillary: Seattle Wedding Photography
Hillary and David share an affinity to the sea and especially to the shipping culture. They wanted their wedding to reflect that interest by holding the ceremony and reception near the historic vessels at South Lake Union at the Naval Reserve in Seattle. The wedding was held on Halloween and some guests came to the wedding in costumes including a pair of professional wrestlers who put on a quick wrestling match. It was unexpected and hilarious. The couple are now on their way to Nicaragua for the honeymoon. Best wishes!

Portland Wedding Photography – Engagement Session
Melissa & Nathan are getting married next year at Gorge Crest Vineyards in Hood River, OR. We spent some time at the Rhododendron Garden and Reed College for their engagement session before heading to dinner at Yoko’s for sushi. It was a great way to get to know each other.
